The Award-Winning Parkscape Project!

We are proud to announce that The Cabbagetown BIA received a Streetscape Award at the 10th Annual City of Toronto Recognition Awards Ceremony!

The #CabbagetownParkscape was an immersive public realm project designed and created in partnership with the Living Streets Program by Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds. From July to September, residents and visitors alike could stroll through five naturally designed parkettes, where they discovered public seating under shady canopies, spaces designed for entertainment for the community, and plenty of areas for everyone to explore, relax, and play.

Featuring programming across the summer and culminating in the Parkscape Promenade closing event, the Cabbagetown Parkscape championed sustainable landscape design and environmental education while providing a safe way for visitors to engage with local businesses. This creative and visionary streetscaping initiative brought much-needed greenspace, seating, and public performance space to our main street. The Parkscape project is proof that the City of Toronto should be looking at Cabbagetown as the harbour for innovation in economic development.

We could not have done it without the support of our generous sponsors Centrecourt Inc and Fitzrovia Real Estate, who together provided 100% of the funding, or our forward-thinking MPP Kristyn Wong -Tam. Their commitment to supporting small businesses and the environment is admirable.

Thank you to TABIA for hosting a wonderful Awards Night! See below for the final report!
