Welcome Matthew Mohan, Our New Executive Director!

We are pleased to introduce Matthew Mohan (pictured below) as the new Executive Director of The Cabbagetown BIA. Many of you may have already had the pleasure of meeting him since he began in November. He is a creative and ambitious award-winning City-builder with a decade's worth of experience executing projects, advocating for policy reform, and finding innovative solutions to economic development issues for main streets.

Having previously worked as Operations Manager at The Junction BIA, Matthew led the Junction business community through the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic, improving the communications efforts of the BIA so that business members had an outlet to voice their concerns and had easy access to all resources. While making evidence-based decisions, he smoothly managed the production of several signature projects, including the Summer Solstice Street Festival, the CaféTO Patio program, multiple streetscaping projects, the Butterfly Gardens project, and the Window Wonderland augmented reality art exhibition – recipients of the 2020 OBIAA Initiative Award, the 2021 IDA Award, and two 2022 TABIA Recognition Awards. Matthew also brings a tremendous amount of experience in grant writing and excels in relationship-building.

Since starting at The Cabbagetown BIA two months ago, he has managed an informative Annual General Meeting (in-person for the first time since 2019), a fun and collaborative Holiday in the Patch event, reformatted our Member Newsletters and Resources pages, exponentially grown our social media following, and applied for and won a 2021 TABIA Award for the Cabbagetown Parkscape project. We look forward to continuing our work with him to optimize our operations and bring noticeable change to Cabbagetown.

Thank you to the hiring committee for their work in filling this important role!

Please join us in providing Matthew with a warm welcome! You can contact Matthew at matthew@cabbagetownto.com.

Wishing you all the best,
