The Cabbagetown Short Film Festival is a juried celebration of outstanding short films from Canada and around the world. Founded in 1992 by Cabbagetown resident Gina Dineen, the festival has grown over more than three decades from a local community event into an internationally recognized showcase for exceptional filmmaking.
Set in Toronto’s vibrant and multicultural Cabbagetown neighbourhood, the festival presents its Gala screening to a live audience at the historic Winchester Street Theatre while also streaming the program online for audiences across Canada.
Each year, the festival curates a diverse lineup of original works from both emerging and established filmmakers. Entries are reviewed by a panel of industry professionals, with awards presented across categories including comedy, drama, animation, documentary, and, newly added this year, smartphone films.
Known for its warm atmosphere and commitment to cinematic excellence, the Cabbagetown Short Film Festival remains a unique and celebrated destination for film lovers and storytellers alike.
