Cabbagetown Parkscape

#CabbagetownParkscape was an immersive public realm project designed and created as part of the Living Streets Program by Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds. This unique connection to nature on Cabbagetown’s main streets provided vital support to its businesses in post-pandemic recovery.

From July to September, residents and visitors alike could stroll through five naturally designed parkettes, where they would discover public seating under shady canopies, spaces designed for entertainment for the community, and plenty of areas for everyone to explore, relax, and play.

Featuring programming across the summer and culminating in the Parkscape Promenade closing event, the Cabbagetown Parkscape championed sustainable landscape design and environmental education while providing a safe way for visitors to engage with local businesses.

We could not have done it without the support of our generous sponsors Centrecourt Inc and Fitzrovia Real Estate, who together provided 100% of the funding, or our forward-thinking MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam. Their commitment to supporting small businesses and the environment is admirable.
